I’ve only just worked out what Diigo is.  Just last week I went in search of online highlighting tools and had decided on Awesome Highlighter, however it looks like Diigo is even better as it manages a myriad of functions. In fact, I’m posting this from within the Diigo home page, which makes annotating web pages quicker. That probably means you’ll be hearing more from me as I find tools to use in the classroom and at home.

Diigo – Web Highlighter and Sticky Notes, Social Bookmarking and Annotation, Social Information Network!

It’s made even better when files can be shared with friends.  For this to happen they also need to be signed up to this free service.

Oh, here’s something else that I reckon is valuable.

I find Diigo an amazing tool and very handy for recording what I find on my online travels. The notetaking tool like the sticky note and the highlighting tools are great and are what make it different from other “bookmarking” tools – I get a silent thrill out of finding other Diigo users notes on the websites I have visited!

The other great thing I like is that you can file your bookmarks under lists, or share them with your groups of interest or with individuals. I have even got my Diigo account flowing through to my del.icio.us account.

There are also the communities – and quite a large number of of educators who are using it to trade resources and discuss topics in their group forums.

I just find it a very intelligent way of gathering my thoughts and finding resources – glad you like it too!

Wow! Alison, you’re way ahead of me. How do you link your diggs to Del.icio.us?
