Sharing an evening together with friends we were able to watch a great fireworks display last night on the foreshore. I guess it was a combination of Victory Day celebrations as well as commemorating the life of the previous President. It was the “85th jubilee of the national leader of Azerbaijani people” according to Today.az.
My guess is , however, that people would have needed to be taken to hospital, given that some fireworks seemed to fire too early, close to the crowd (the fireworks were strapped to the fence and the barrier was made only 2m away). Burning material would have been falling on the crowd. The smoke would have been hard to bear as well.
The navy were out in force, lined up to watch the evening’s entertainment. Who would have thought that Azerbaijan would need a navy, having only the Caspian Sea to navigate?
