The 31 Day Comment Challenge for leaving comments on blogs started at the beginning of May. I learnt about it after it after it started and have only just started to think about it. Sue Waters (The Edublogger) explains the aim like this: to spend a month of focused commenting for us all to become better blog citizens … by actively participating in conversations and sharing our learning, especially with those new to blogging.
Michele Martin’s blog has day by day challenges for bloggers to think about during the month.
My big reminder so far is that a blog is much better when links are included. That way the blog is more of a gift to others as they build their network and skills on the internet.
I’m wondering if blogs need to have only a single purpose. I’ve recently excised one issue from my blog and put it elsewhere. What are your thoughts?
If you have a blog what do you use if for?

I am a huge fan of one blog that is very specific. But generally, I like seeing what you’re up to and what you’re interested in.
I like the personal touch, that links things to what is actually going on in your life.
I dont’ get around to commenting on your blogs much - but I do keep an eye on it! I have to admit I didn’t read a lot of the Freedom of the Press stuff. Only so much misery I can take!
Oh - and I enjoy the little ‘twitter’ stuff.

By liking ‘the personal touch’ are you meaning things I’m doing or the fact that I’m putting in some links that I’m looking at?
I decided to start a group at edna.edu.au but it turned out to be a listserve. I think I’ll get rid of it and consider a group. The trouble is it’s not as attractive as another site called Classroom 2.0 Ah, the worries of someone with too much time on their hands.

Thanks for living a comment on my blog’ you know blogs should be a place to express your imagination like writing a story.

I blog for different reasons in different places. My main blog is for my business. It’s partially for my customers, and partially as a place to connect with new people. I also blog for a professional association. I blog there to help people find us, find out about our profession and to share resources with members.

‘Personal touch’ - I think for me is: more stuff that links to what you’re doing. Talking about what you’re up to, what you’ve seen.
But in saying that, of course stuff that is absorbing your attention (like edna vs classroom 2.0) , comes into that too.
I disagree with Blanca - I don’t think that a blog is somewhere just to express your imagination. Some of my favourite blogs are extremely well written (I suspect they’re actually ‘column’ writers), but they still link back to what is important to the blogger at the time.
I meant to blog my pregnancy etc, but didn’t feel the ‘muse’ much, so Keeley will miss out!
