Xinaliq in Azerbaijan

Tanya and I went with a friend and her mother last weekend to Xinaliq in the north of Azerbaijan. We hired a car together and visited the old Persian castle of Gala Alti as well. I had been to Xinaliq last year and thought that Tanya had to see this amazing place and the amazing scenery on the way. We drove along cliffs beside stunning canyons that left Tanya feeling sick and that worried me through the possibility of overheating brakes.

These shots are from Xinaliq, Azerbaijan, where there are supposedly 300 homes. My impression was that they are slowly coming down. It’s hard to know whether there’ll be many in 100 years.

Baku now has temps in the high teens each day.

Chee Wan and I take a taxi to school each day now that our ride has moved up the hill to the high-class accommodation. We reckon we will stay in our units as it’s closer to the shops and the main square in town.
