Kiva

Thanks to Cristi Karlstead (on my blog role), who teaches at Koc School in Istanbul, I learnt again about Kiva, which organises microloans through the internet for people developing their business. What an inspired idea! The internet makes it possible to loan to Kiva which works with various microloan organisations around the world. They then loan to various entrepeneurs around the world. So far they have had a 100% loan repayment rate over the usual loan period of 6-12 months.

Please click on the link and view their website to get inspired with what is possible. At repayment you have the choice to reloan to another person who is working to escape poverty. I made a couple of small loans to Azerbaijani rural people.
