It’s amazing to be in this part of the world! I know of many teachers this coming week, who are going to Georgia, UK, Lebanon, Israel, USA, The Netherlands … there’s probably more. It would be impossible for any Australian school to have people going to so many countries.
Another fact is that virtually every teacher aide here is conversant in Azerbaijani, Russian and English. I am in awe of such skill. I’m working on the language side of things but not sure I’ll ever be that competent.
Must get back to learning some Azerbaijani. I’ve now started to consider whether I should start working on Russian next year. It seems to be the main language for many adults still in Azerbaijan. It would also help in travelling to all the neighbouring countries in middle Asia.
