Today I made another step towards getting a bank account but I haven’t quite achieved it yet.
Tomorrow I have to go the Foreign Ministry in person to prove (presumably) that I am who I say I am. I go with Canan (Ja-narn) who is one of the various people responsible for foreign teachers.
Canan informed that I don’t qualify for the settling-in allowance as I’m only here for half a year. I’ve written various letters to Search Associates et al. to discuss the issue. I wonder how long it will be before this decision is reversed.

How frustrating!!
I hope you manage to get it all sorted out. Just because you’re only there for half a year doesn’t mean you don’t need to set your place up!
